The Viejas Government is serious about and places high priority on education. Tribal government gaming revenues have made it possible for every child and adult member to receive an education from preschool, vocational training and higher education through post doctorate level through a scholarship program, which includes room and board.

On the reservation, Viejas has built two modern schools staffed by professionals.

Children of Viejas attend schools in the Alpine Union School District and the Grossmont High School District.

The band also makes financial contributions from its tribal government gaming revenues to support local public schools.

Each year, the Viejas Education Committee joins the Viejas Tribal Council in sponsoring an annual luncheon to honor graduates for their achievements and providing them with an array of gifts designed to augment their studies. In 2003, 31 tribal member graduates were honored, ranging from those promoted to sixth grade to others completing college level instruction in tribal government gaming.
